Markthalleneun - Street food Thursday

STREET FOOD. LOTS OF IT. EVERY THURSDAY. THAT'S PRETTY MUCH ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW...

WHERE:  Every Thursday get yourself down to Markthalleneun's rendition of late night street food  at Eisenbahnstr. 42/42 in Kreuzberg.

THE DEAL: One of Berlin's best covered street food markets. Local food and drink producers and suppliers alongside inventive street food stalls mean you can get your supermarket shop done with a full stomach and way more flair than REWE can ever offer. If you're an original local Londoner (like us) you'll feel like you've been transported back to Brixton market.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays find the usual offering and there's a weekly market on Saturdays and Sundays.

THE FOOD: This place has everything you could wish for. Stuff yourself silly with Pakistani Pakora's, freshly made risotto and pasta, meaty burgers & fries, spicy pad-thai, vegan gyros, cheese toasties, organic desserts - tears come to our eyes when we think back to Jones's ice-cream. Plus the most extraordinary ''bubble-wrap' waffles (unleash your inner glutton with this bad-boy). Communal tables are scattered around where you can sit to chow down. There's also a glass bakery and butcher's shop, a "Tofurei" (a tofu place basically), and a "Tofurei" (a tofu place basically).

THE DRINKS: Inside the market is a small in-house brewery, an organic wine bar, and a fresh juice and smoothie stall to quench your thirst. Outside the market entrance there are a couple of bars which, come evening, get pretty popular.

THE PRICE: Make sure to take cash with you, as few vendors will accept card. Prices range from €1 (a pastry or bread) upwards. Street vendors charge around €4 upwards per plate. Wines and beers are the same price you expect to pay anywhere. There's a €3 deposit you need to leave for glasses.

PAY BY: €ash.

BEST FOR: Trying new food and doing something different.
