LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE HERE WITH ALL THE SOCIALISING YOU WANT WHILST STAYING HEALTHY AND HANGOVER-FREE.
WHERE: Redemption, 6 Chepstow Road, W2 5BH, London.
TUBE: Notting Hill Gate.
THE DEAL: Three restaurants; Shoreditch, Covent Garden and Notting Hill which promise to nourish your body with nutritious vegan food and mocktails. The Notting Hill flagship is a cute joint perfect for date night.
THE FOOD: Vegan and healthy to the core, the restaurant serves up a daytime menu filled with smoothies and brunch classics, as well as a more sophisticated evening selection. Inside, the cafe has a cool design complete with neon signs and most likely a queue out of the door. Brunch food favourites include a tropical smoothie bowl with mango, pineapple, chia seeds, coconut and turmeric topped with passionfruit, kiwi and blueberries. It’s refreshing, and fruity and frankly harks back to summer holiday vibes. There’s also a great twist on avocado toast with chunky guacamole with chilli and lime on seeded bread. Buckwheat pancakes topped with coconut yoghurt, fruit, caramelised pecans & maple syrup are delicious, fluffy and light. More substantial plates include the epic ‘buff burger’ that’s been super-fooded to the max. It’s made with protein-packed Shitake mushrooms, black beans and beetroot, served in an oat bun with turmeric superslaw and chunky sweet potato fries to elevate a dish associated with fast food to health guru status. Likewise, ‘Californication’ is something to order if you’re starving; the roasted sweet potato and red onion hash with mushrooms, kale and spinach packs in all the veggies. Jackfruit soft tacos are perhaps the very best option on the menu, and definitely date-night worthy. Slow-cooked spicy jackfruit in soft blue corn tacos with tomato salsa, guacamole, and pineapple salsa with chipotle mayo are full of flavour and oil-free. And of course Redemption is known for it’s alcohol-free cocktails. The rosemary and pomegranate fizz is delicious and refreshing. If you want to treat yourself, a chocolate smoothie might be more tempting. Skinny Cacao is made of organic Boca pure bean to cup cacao. Depending on the season, these guys serve it up with iced or hot nut milk, yet another reason why we can’t stay away from this place.
