Brunch doesn’t always have to be avo on toast. Live a little and switch-it-up with those in the know about Esters…

WHERE: 55 Kynaston Rd, Stoke Newington N16 0EB, London.

RAIL: Rectory Road / Stoke Newington.

THE DEAL: One of best brunches in London that locals deem worth queuing for (and trust us, Brits do not like to q). Not to be mistaken with a pretentious, wanky, ‘hipster’ East London cafe type - this place is the real deal.

THE FOOD: This place champions quality producers; from coffee sourced from proper roasters to local fruit and veg. There’s also a lot of invention going on in the kitchen - so don’t expect a standard brunch menu. Just as well since you didn’t come here for ‘regular’, ‘standard’ or vanilla (you’re not that kind of person). The menu changes a lot but the “Beef shin” with cherry ketchup (heaven), sprouting broccoli in fried onion-sesame dressing and a fried egg was a far superior option to your full English! The “French Toast” is also epic and interesting in its flavour combinations; whipped ricotta, apple, maple syrup and muscat grape sounds weird but tastes amazing.

PAY BY: Card only (hurrah!)

BEST FOR: Sexing up your weekend brunch with something a bit more interesting than eggs and avocado (snore).
