The Green Spot
ONE OF OUR ABSOLUTE FAVOURITES, YOU HAVE TO GET DOWN HERE. VEGGIES GALORE IN THE CHICEST SETTING - YOU’RE PRETTY MUCH SITTING INSIDE WALLPAPER MAGAZINE ITS THAT BEAUTIFUL.
WHERE: Carrer de la Reina Cristina 12, 08003 Barcelona.
THE DEAL: Part of the EN COMPAÑÍA DE LOBOS group The Green Spot matches delicious veggie food in a sophisticated space. The setting is like walking into an interior design magazine; earthly tones, vintage table lamps, a copper bar and oak lined corridors. Oh there’s also an ‘interior’ garden. Plus the chairs and table feel super Skandi and are luxuriously roomy (not packed together where you are basically dining with other people).
THE FOOD: Veggies for everyone. Start perusing the menu by ordering yourself a tasty cocktail or glass of vino - there’s a big list. The team here have really masterminded the whole seasonal, local thing and mashing-up cuisines from all over the world. Starters travel across Greece with halloumi and peach skewers, Vietnam with Summer rice rolls, the Middle East with Muhammara dip and India with fried cauliflower in tamarind and mint sauce. Then for mains there’s an infamous “Spot green curry” which was incredibly tasty (we would have liked more of it to be honest) and we loved the lettuce jackfruit tacos (although again we’re greedy and wanted more). Other dishes include a tempeh schnitzel with slaw, various veggie pastas (think red lentil, courgette and carrot spaghetti or beetroot gnocchi with pesto) and interesting pizza combinations. There’s a gluten free one with cashew cheese and pumpkin sausage, green hemp pizza and the eye-catching charcoal black pizza. Desserts are also good; the crumble with rhubarb and strawberry is one for the sweet-toothed. Otherwise we vote for the homemade ice cream - unreal and changing flavours to switch it up (ours was mango, raspberry and caramel).
THE PRICE: Starters range between €5 for Kale chips up to €11.5 for the skewers. “Spot Curry” and the Tacos are €15. Most pastas and pizzas are around €15. For dessert the crumble is €6.5, homemade ice cream €4.5. A glass of cava is €5 and cocktails are around €9.
PAY BY: €ash and card.
BEST FOR: Skandi-design and veggie lovers. But also anyone who loves food and eating in nice places - period.
