Ale & Hop

A veggie and vegan friendly spot that healthifies a dinner classic - the burger - as well as making their own variety of different craft beers.

WHERE: Carrer de les Basses de Sant Pere, 10, 08003 Barcelona.

METRO: Arc de Triomf.

THE DEAL: One of the most environmentally friendly places for craft beer and veggie burger lovers in the city.

THE FOOD: If you’re vegan or veggie and tired of limited food options then Ale & Hop will cheer you up. This place isn’t fancy, but its buzzing, friendly and warm. The food is good but don’t bother with anything but the burgers (and maybe the croquettas). We love the Mexican one made of black beans that comes with guacamole, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce, tomato and lettuce. Definitely order the sweet potato bravas too which come with a spicy harissa dip. We only wish the portions were a little bigger. The beetroot burger is also worth an order (it doesn’t hold together so well but it still tastes good). The croquettas are homemade with seasonal ingredients (think swiss chard and truffle) and are served hot and crispy. Nachos come loaded with a good amount of guacamole. They make a nice sharing plate to start. Wash it all down with one of their tasty craft beers (there are ten taps). There are also wine options, Fentiman’s cola and organic lemonade if you aren’t a natural beer drinker. There are also cheese boards on the menu that might interest anyone looking for a place just for some casual drinks and nibbles.

THE PRICE: Lentil burger €6, Mexican burger €6.9, Beetroot burger €6.25, “Tablas de quesos” €9 (small) or €16 (large), croquettas €5.9, patatas bravas €4, Nachos €4. Beers between €3-6.5.

PAY BY: €ash and card.

BEST FOR: For all the veggie and vegans out there who want a decent selection of options to eat out with friends (at decent prices too we might add).
