THE WORKOUT: “Rumble” at 1Rebel Broadgate. The mid-week Tuesday 12:15pm lunchtime Rumble class with Tiago is a winner if you want to smash that whole ‘sweat-working’ thing. Otherwise Sunday’s 12:15pm class with Luke breaks that whole day of rest thing (in a good way). Although London has got 1Rebel fever, with the immersive boutique fitness chain opening new studios left, right and centre, the Broadgate studio has a special place in our hearts. Its the most rebellious one of the bunch; dark, underground and home to “Rumble” (as well as the signature “Reshape” class). “Rumble” is like the hunger games but boxing. Of course, we’re kidding - its not that intense (i..e life or death) but still you’re a dark room for forty-five minutes pounding it out on your boxing bag. Gloves on, no breaks - these 1Rebel guys mean serious business. Work through footwork drills, punches, kicks and other explosive, high-intensity movements thrown in for good measure. Roaring tunes blast-out from the speakers alongside the occasional '“Come-on you rebels” shouts from the trainer - all designed to get you in the fighting spirit. You may be a sweating mess by the end, but you’ll also be a member of the 1Rebel club.

THE FOOD: If you don’t know who Yotam Ottolenghi is then by god you’re in for a treat. With four deli-cum-restaurants across the capital Ottolenghi stole London’s heart long ago as King of contemporary cooking. Just like his signature style, the largest outpost in Spitalfields is a homage to flavour. The food is healthy, fresh, bold and hard to define - just fuse every delicious flavour you’ve ever tasted from around the world and you’ll be close. Choose to dine at a proper table or sit up at the bar to see cocktail making in action while you tuck in to a lunchtime feast. And by feast we mean FEAST. Every day the kitchen serves up a variety of salads that you can view at the counter and take your pick. We fell in LOVE with the roasted aubergine, spiced tomato yoghurt and green chilli. Nectarines with beetroot and goat’s cheese also hit the spot as did the roasted butternut squash with red onion, tahini and pine nuts. Throw something meaty into the mix with char-grilled salmon or roasted free chicken in a spicy almond sauce. Entirely unnecessary but you can also upgrade your salad and add a main dish cooked from the menu to accompany - the beef and lamb kofta or Seabream won’t disappoint. Wash it all down with a fresh juice or a mocktail. And make sure to swing by the dessert counter on your way out.

THE PRICE: If you fell in love at “Rumble” and want to sign up for a rolling deal then one class every week per month will set you back £69, two classes per week is £129. Go big and get unlimited classes for £249. A single drop-in session is £20. Over at Ottolenghi you won’t get change for £20. Its £16.50 for a choice of three salads or £18.70 for four. Two salads from the counter plus salmon or chicken is £18.80 or three salads £21.60. Two salads and a main from the menu is £23.80. Bread and oil is £4.50. Fresh juices are £3.8, a flat white £3 and mocktails like “Ginger, orange and lime zinger” are £5.90.

BEST FOR: Getting those happy endorphins flowing; hard-core boxing and irresistible is just about the closest thing we’ve found to therapy.
