THE FESTIVAL: A monumental festival dedicated to one of the best things about this beautiful city - the coffee. You'll be buzzing all weekend as the festival runs from Friday through to Sunday (Monday is open for people in the coffee business). Friday and Saturday is filled with special work-shops (think home brewing, roasting your own beans, Latte art, flavour pairings etc.), talks and tastings from Berlin coffee maestro's The Barn, The Flying Roasters, Five Elephant Coffee Roasters, Isla Coffee, 19grams Alex, Distrikt and more. On Sunday Markthalle Neun will be packed with more community events and coffee tastings so you can swing by all the baristas in town and try their newest range of coffees. Just be careful not to overdo it (hard we know) - you'll never get to sleep and Yoga will be a nightmare.
THE WORKOUT: Jivamuki Open class in English at 15.15pm. Jivamukti's XBerg studio is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Markthalle Neun and Berlin’s second official outpost of NYC’s best-known yoga centre. The Jivamuki Open class at 15:15 after your festival visit offers a natural antidote to all that caffeine. The Jivamukti style of yoga is the perfect balance of dynamic flow, meditation and deep relaxation to end. But these kids spice it up and break the rules of traditional yoga - enjoy flowing through the Vinyasa sequences accompanied to Moby and the Beatles. It's strangely hypnotising and wonderful. And you can't argue with Moby.
THE PRICE: Entry to the coffee festival (which, by the way gets you unlimited supplies of black coffee) is €5. Jivamukti's 95 minute open class in English costs €18. First-timers can also sign up for their special trial deal of €39 for a whole month of unlimited classes. It is also on Classpass and Urban Sports Club.
BEST FOR: Coffee lovers (duh). And for those after an energising morning followed by a chilled out flow.
