THE WORKOUT: KUNG-FU magic at 19.45 on a Friday night with experts who have even appeared in the martial arts and Hollywood movies for their fighting skills. This hour an a half flies by, where you’ll practise various combinations and specific Kung Fu drills that challenge your focus and your body; jabs, blocking, dodging, kicking non-stop for 90 minutes. Even if you don’t work up a huge sweat in class, your body will be feeling it the next day when you wake-up - trust us. Post work-out the studio has nice changing rooms and showers for you to freshen up before heading to dinner.

THE FOOD: A local gem that's laid-back and unpretentious  but with serious flair in the kitchen. The menu is small and changes on a weekly basis so every time you go back you can try something new. Most ingredients are locally sourced meaning everything is seasonal, fresh and flavoursome. There's usually at least one veggie option amongst the offal, game, red meat, fish and poultry. The chef at LOKAL only describes his creations by the list of ingredients involved, so you can't be too sure exactly what you’ve ordered, but that's all part of the fun. The signature style is inventive and unexpected flavour combinations that actually taste really good - "Pasta, parsley root, Swiss-chard, plum, gouda", " Cod, parsnip, crab, chard, pear, mayonnaise" and "Eagle-fish, buckwheat, parsley root". Meat-lovers can expect things like "Rumpsteak, beetroot, Swiss-chard, Jerusalem artichoke, radish" or "Roast lamb, white beans, asparagus, sour cherry, dandelion". And try and save room for dessert - "Sloe honey, seagrass" and "Cheesecake red wine blackthorn" are ones we still dream about at night.  The wine list matches the eclectic menu and M and I enjoyed a delicious, dry Rose (perhaps too drinkable - it went done very quickly.) The service is great and staff friendly and accommodating (a rarity in Berlin). Nothing is too much trouble and for any Vegans out there, they were kind enough to create something vegan off the menu for us too.

THE DRINKS: Secret cocktails in a hidden bar - could we be any more Berlin?! But seriously this place is legit for tasty cocktails in a cool setting if you're looking to let a little loose after a long week (we don't blame you). Small bar is the little sister bar of the infamous brunch destination House of Small Wonder so you can expect that it won't disappoint. The website doesn't give anything away - only the opening times so put your trust in us and try it! If you want to watch the sugar then go for the lighter, simpler cocktails like an old classic G & T.

THE PRICE: You can sign up for a trial class at Chimosa for free if you book a consultation with the team as well. Otherwise the cost of your first class is €10 and then €18 thereafter. Although LOKAL isn't the cheapest, for the high quality of food, and general great time you'll have there the prices aren't too high. Mains will set you back anywhere from €15 for pasta up to €29 for a fancy cut of meat like an Entrecote steak.  Starters and Dessert are in the region of €7-€14. Expect the usual speak-easy prices for drinks at Small Bar you’re looking at around €10 per cocktail. Make sure you cash up - they don’t take card and the cocktails slip down extremely well.

BEST FOR: A punchy hedonistic Friday night. Not exactly a frugal Friday but you can make up for it in the week - so go on treat yo’self!
